Published Author, Researcher & Creative Professional
Our founder is a published author and interdisciplinary researcher, with published works spanning disability practice, mental health, neurodivergence, assistance animals and educational resources.
Their academic experience includes research, literature reviews, critical analysis, academic writing, policy development and translating complex information into accessible educational materials.
Our founder is also an advanced photographer and visual artist, bringing expertise in creative expression, visual communication, artistic development and interdisciplinary learning.
This creative background supports our recognition that giftedness and intelligence may be expressed through academic, visual-spatial, artistic, practical and creative abilities.
Founder, CEO & Business Leader
Beyond teaching and research, our Founder and Head Educator has established, developed and led multiple businesses, educational initiatives and community-focused organisations.
Their experience includes executive leadership, organisational management, professional education, program development, disability advocacy, policy, research and stakeholder engagement.
This practical experience complements academic expertise and provides valuable perspectives on business studies, entrepreneurship, leadership, vocational education and real-world learning.
Lived Experience of Giftedness & Twice-Exceptionality
A defining feature of Twice Bright Learning is our founder's lived experience of giftedness, twice-exceptionality, neurodivergence and disability.
We recognise that exceptional intellectual ability can coexist with substantial functional support needs.
A learner may demonstrate advanced reasoning or exceptional academic knowledge while experiencing difficulties with executive functioning, organisation, written expression, sensory processing, communication or conventional educational environments.
Intellectual ability, academic performance, functional capacity and independence are not interchangeable.
Our founder brings both professional knowledge and lived experience to understanding these differences.
This informs our commitment to education that provides appropriate intellectual challenge without overlooking disability-related needs or accessibility requirements.
Our Educational Philosophy
High Expectations. Low Shame. Individualised Support.
Our educational approach is grounded in:
Neuroaffirming education — respecting neurodivergent identities, communication differences and learning profiles.

Person-centred and learner-led support — adapting education to individual goals and support needs.
Disability-affirming inclusion — promoting accessibility, reasonable adjustments and equitable participation.
Culturally responsive education — respecting cultural identities, experiences and perspectives.
Universal Design for Learning (UDL) — offering flexible ways to engage with and demonstrate knowledge.
Evidence-informed teaching — combining research, professional expertise and learner feedback.
Metacognition and executive-function development — helping students understand, organise and improve their learning.
More Than Tutoring
At Twice Bright Learning, we believe educational success involves more than grades and examinations.
Our goal is to help learners develop academic knowledge, critical thinking, creativity, confidence, self-advocacy, executive functioning and effective lifelong learning strategies.
We don't just teach students what to learn. We help them discover how they learn best.

Drawing on our founder's background in animal behaviour, assistance animals, disability inclusion and education, we offer animal-themed learning and specialist enrichment.
This may include animal-related literacy, numeracy, science, research, welfare education, assistance-animal awareness, creative projects and vocational exploration.
We welcome enquiries from students who use assistance animals and aim to accommodate their legitimate access needs.

We help learners understand their strengths, identify useful learning adjustments, communicate educational needs and develop self-advocacy skills.
Where appropriate and with consent, we can collaborate with families, teachers, university accessibility services, developmental educators, occupational therapists, speech pathologists and other relevant professionals.
How Learning Support Works
1. Tell Us About Your Needs
We begin by understanding the learner's educational goals, strengths, interests, communication preferences and current challenges.
2. Understand the Learner
We consider educational history, academic abilities, learning differences, accessibility requirements and existing strategies.
3. Develop an Individualised Approach
We identify suitable teaching methods, educational goals, learning adjustments and areas for academic support or enrichment.
4. Learn in a Way That Works
Sessions may combine subject tutoring, executive-function support, academic writing, metacognition, study skills and specialist enrichment.
5. Build Independence
We help learners develop transferable academic skills, confidence, self-understanding, self-advocacy and effective learning strategies.
6. Review & Adapt
Learning goals and strategies can be adjusted as needs, circumstances and educational demands change.
Our Educational Philosophy
High Expectations. Low Shame. Individualised Support.
Our practice is informed by:
Neuroaffirming Education — respecting neurodivergent identities, communication differences and individual learning profiles.
Trauma-Informed Practice — prioritising safety, trust, predictability, collaboration and autonomy.
Strengths-Based Teaching — building upon interests, abilities, knowledge and potential.
Person-Centred & Learner-Led Support — involving learners in decisions about their educational goals and strategies.
Disability-Affirming Inclusion — recognising accessibility, reasonable adjustments and equitable participation.
Culturally Responsive Education — respecting cultural identity, experiences and diverse perspectives.
Universal Design for Learning (UDL) — providing flexible pathways for engagement, understanding and demonstrating knowledge.
Differentiated & Explicit Instruction — adapting teaching while clearly explaining essential concepts and skills.
Evidence-Informed Practice — integrating educational research, professional knowledge and learner feedback.
Developmentally Appropriate Education — recognising that chronological age, academic ability and support needs do not always align.
Metacognition & Executive-Function Development — teaching students how to plan, organise, evaluate and improve their own learning.
Accessibility & Student Wellbeing
Twice Bright Learning aims to provide safe, respectful, accessible and inclusive educational experiences.
Depending on individual needs and available arrangements, adjustments may include:
Written, visual or verbal instructions
AAC and alternative communication
Additional processing time
Flexible pacing and planned breaks
Sensory-aware teaching
Predictable session structures
Accessible digital materials
Assistive technology
Alternative ways to demonstrate understanding
Adjustments for fatigue and fluctuating capacity
Support-person involvement where appropriate
Our educational approach is informed by child-safe principles, privacy, professional boundaries, respectful communication and non-punitive teaching.
We provide tutoring and educational support, not medical diagnosis, psychological therapy or clinical treatment.
Academic Integrity
We teach students how to research, plan, analyse, write, reference and complete their own academic work.
We do not provide ghostwriting, impersonation, fabricated references or completion of assessed work on behalf of students.
Accessible Communication, AAC & Assistive Technology
Different Ways to Communicate. Equal Opportunities to Learn.
At Twice Bright Learning, we recognise that spoken language is not the only valid or effective way to communicate, participate in education or demonstrate knowledge.
Our neuroaffirming, disability-inclusive, person-centred and communication-accessible educational approach recognises and accommodates diverse communication methods, including spoken language, written communication, gestures, visual supports, augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), assistive technology and other individualised communication systems.
Augmentative & Alternative Communication (AAC)
We welcome students who use AAC devices, speech-generating devices, communication applications, symbol-based systems, communication boards and other alternative or supplementary communication methods.
Educational support can be adapted to accommodate:
Speech-generating devices and electronic AAC systems
Tablet-based AAC applications
Symbol-based and picture-based communication
Communication boards and communication books
Text-to-speech and speech-to-text technology
Keyboard-based and typed communication
Visual schedules, written instructions and visual learning supports
Multimodal communication and individual communication preferences
Additional processing and response time
Learners who are nonspeaking, minimally speaking or intermittently speaking
We recognise that communication ability, speech production, intellectual ability and academic potential are not interchangeable.
Students are encouraged to use their established communication systems during tutoring, learning activities and educational interactions.
Where appropriate, and with consent, we can collaborate with speech pathologists, families, educators and other relevant professionals to support consistent access to communication.
Our role is to accommodate AAC within educational instruction, rather than provide specialist AAC assessment, device prescription or speech pathology services.
Auslan & Sign-Supported Communication
We recognise Auslan (Australian Sign Language) as a distinct language and an important means of communication, identity and cultural participation within the Australian Deaf community.
Where appropriate, we aim to accommodate learners who use Auslan or sign-supported communication through accessible written materials, visual learning strategies, communication adjustments and collaboration with qualified Auslan interpreters or relevant specialists.
Our Auslan-related support is limited and does not constitute specialist Auslan teaching or interpreting.
Braille, Screen Readers & Vision-Accessible Learning
We also recognise the importance of Braille, screen readers, magnification, accessible digital documents and other assistive technologies for blind and low-vision learners.
Where practicable, educational materials and teaching methods can be adapted to support:
Screen-reader-compatible documents
Accessible electronic text
Clear document structure and headings
Keyboard navigation
Adjustable text size and visual presentation
Text alternatives to visual information
Learner-preferred accessible formats
Collaboration with specialist vision educators or Braille professionals where required
Braille-specific instruction and transcription are outside our core specialist services.
Communication Access Is Educational Access
We recognise that learners should not be disadvantaged simply because they communicate, process information or demonstrate understanding differently.
Our approach prioritises communication autonomy, accessible information, learner choice, reasonable adjustments, dignity, inclusion and equitable participation.
A learner does not need to communicate through speech to demonstrate knowledge, intelligence, creativity or academic ability.
